About Guu Davie
Guu Davie, located on Davie Street in Vancouver, is a Japanese pub (Izakaya) that has defied the trend of local izakayas fading away in the early 2000s. Instead, Guu not only stood its ground but also adapted to the evolving local market. Offering happy hours, a unique selection of Japanese dishes, and a welcoming staff, Guu Davie has become a cherished community hub for both locals and enthusiasts of Japanese culture.
Charity event
This reputation was further solidified during the charity event held on September 17, 2023, organized by one of Guu Davie’s regular patrons, Tomoki. Tomoki, a Japanese entrepreneur, is spearheading a project to build a children’s library in Nepal, and the event aimed to raise funds for this noble cause. The expansive 3,460 square feet interior of Guu Davie, nestled in the lively Davie Street, provided the perfect setting for the event, allowing for collaborations with DJs and the traditional Japanese Yosakoi dance group, Appare Yosakoi, who delivered a breathtaking performance.
Maple Signage Canada was proud to be a part of this event, contributing our cloud-based digital signage system to both the event organizer and Guu Davie. The digital signage displayed crucial information about the event concept, the library construction project, calls for fundraising, and upcoming event schedules. Positioned near the ordering counter, it effectively conveyed the project’s significance, resulting in a successful donation of 450CAD + 20USD. It was evident that digital signage played a pivotal role as a powerful communication and call-to-action tool in the lively pub atmosphere.
